A Bachelor For A Week

Court and Jackson left me Wednesday night to go visit her family for a week, leaving me alone. Let me tell you, it has been an interesting experience thus far. When it is during the week things aren't so bad. I work all day, come home and eat, get stuff done and chat with Court and Jackson. By this time it is already time for bed. It is funny, people at work felt sorry for me and sent me home with some goodies! Awesome. However, now the weekend has hit and I have lots of time and the house is quiet. I've been trying to keep busy, mostly reading and doing odd things around the house. Courtney even planned a BBQ at our place and invited some friends over to keep me company. It was very kind of her. I had a great time. My friends, feeling sorry for me as well, left me some food to get me through. I'm stocked until Court comes back. I can cook, but why cook when it is just me around?

One thing I've learned these few days is how much I love and miss Courtney and Jackson. Even if Jackson can be lots of work and cause lack of sleep, I miss his laugh and smile. Court called on the way from the airport to her parents place because Jackson was so tired he couldn't be calmed down. I started to sing to him over the phone and he calmed down and fell asleep shortly after. It made me feel good to know that he would calm down for me. I miss having my best friend sleeping next to me at night. I miss her hugs and kisses. I'm grateful for phones and Skype so we can stay in touch until they both come home.

Ultimately, I don't think I would choose to go back to the way things were before I was married. I love being a husband and father!

Wiggle Worm

Yesterday when I put Jackson down for his nap I laid him down like this ...

When I went to get him after his nap, he looked like this ...

Now, Jackson has wiggled before a little bit off center, but never even close to that far!  Seeing as how he is wrapped up, I think he first kicked off the blanket (which he does often), and then used his head to move around the crib?  Needless to say, I burst out laughing when I went in his room.  Pretty awesome :)

3 months!

Jackson turned 3 months old yesterday!  He is getting so smiley and interactive with mommy and daddy!  At three months, Jackson loves playing with his toys that make noises.  He is getting really good at "pushing" the buttons (which is really more like hitting his toys at the right spot!) and gets very excited when they make noise.

Jackson has also turned into quite the escape artist.  If we don't swaddle him when putting him to bed, he wakes himself up by hitting his pacifier out of his mouth and wiggling.

We used to swaddle him in his blanket, but he got too strong for us and learned how to break free, eventually within seconds of being swaddled.  Here is the before and after.
Then we started using his swaddle blankets that have velcro to help keep him swaddled.  They are kind of like straight jackets for babies.  Sometimes I feel bad velcroing him in, but then I remember he will wake himself up otherwise.  Of course within a day or two, he learned how to break free of those too, but it takes him longer.

Jackson loves to play with daddy!  He also loves to cuddle with daddy!
He fell asleep holding Shawn's hands

Jackson loves sucking on his hands and bags of vegetables!
A week and a half ago Jackson moved into his own room.  He did pretty well his first night in his crib, but unfortunately mommy and daddy were so worried about him that we didn't sleep very well.  He now sleeps at least the first part of the night in his crib, and sometimes ends up in his swing in mommy and daddy's room when he won't go back to sleep, and always finishes his sleep cuddling with mommy in bed after daddy leaves for work.

Jackson also still LOVES to wiggle and sing songs with mommy.  His favorites are "Mr. Sun" and "Popcorn Popping".  He always smiles and wiggles when mommy sings them to him.  Jackson also loves to be outside and to look around at everything.  Here are some more fun pictures of our little man at 3 months!
I was singing to him during this picture.  Look at his arms go!
Doing some dance moves :)
