Catching Up ... November Edition

It has been way too long since I have posted on our blog.  Between the holidays, end of the semester and finals, and traveling, life has been pretty crazy here with the Wards!  A lot has happened in the last couple of months, so here's a quick catch up - part 1!

THANKSGIVING
We had Trisha and her family over for Thanksgiving.  Unfortunately we didn't get a picture of our spread, but we had a ton of great food!  And we got pictures of Jackson, so that's really what matters, right? ;)
I tried to get Jackson to try turkey and sweet potato souffle... the sweet potatoes went over pretty well but he was not a fan of the turkey

Jackson was a lot happier after I gave him some sweet potato and turkey baby food

 JACKSON'S FIRST HAIRCUT
On November 27, Shawn decided that he was ready to get rid of Jackson's comb over and mullet.  His hair was getting pretty long, so we bought a nice set of clippers and Shawn went to work!  I held Jackson on my lap while Shawn cut his hair, and he did a great job!  Poor little guy was pretty freaked out and didn't make it easy, but he looked very handsome afterwards!  Here are some before and after pictures.

JACKSON TURNS 10 MONTHS!
At the end of November Jackson turned 10 months old!  Yeah, he's already over 11 months, so I am definitely a slacker mom ...  But here's a quick sum up of what Jackson was up to then!
- Jackson learned how to wave, and is now pretty awesome at it!  He waves at EVERYONE and EVERYTHING (even random nothing while walking through Walmart :) )

- Jackson got all 4 of his top teeth over a 2 week span.  They had been swollen for almost two months and finally all decided to pop through at once around Thanksgiving.  It's amazing how much older he looked with all 4 of his top teeth.
- One night while feeding his dinner, Jackson decided to spit out his food.  I was so surprised, and he made such a funny face that I couldn't stop laughing.  Well, that was probably my biggest parenting fail to date.  It took us over a week to get him to stop spitting out his food EVERY TIME he ate!!!  He thought it was hilarious, and unfortunately we did too ;)
- Shortly after he stopped spitting his food, he learned how to feed himself finger foods!!!  That was one of the best moments ever!  He had been picking his food up and playing with it for a while, but fought pretty hard when we tried to get him to put it in his mouth.  Then one day, he just picked up a puff and popped it in his mouth.  I got so excited I scared him, but he recovered and was a finger food eating machine after that.  His favorite finger foods were Cheerios and Sweet Potato Puffs.

Here are some fun pictures of Jackson from November!
One morning we went in to get Jackson and this is what he looked like!

9 months!

Halloween was a special day not only because it was Jackson's first Halloween, but he also turned 9 months old!  He is a super fun, super happy baby that we just absolutely adore!  I took Jackson in to his 9 month check up last Monday and he is finally gaining weight!  He is 19 lbs (40th percentile) and 31.5 inches (98th percentile).  Our little guy definitely went through a growth spurt during the last 3 months!  Here are some fun things about Jackson:

At 9 months, Jackson ...
- is a master roller/scooter!  He can get just about anywhere he wants rolling and scooting - now if we could just get him to crawl ;)
- is getting pretty good at standing with support
- can hold his own bottle, when he wants to
- is getting to be so much fun!  He loves to giggle and play silly games with mommy and daddy
- has been going through a stranger danger phase and is not super happy when mommy and daddy leave him with a babysitter to go on a date
- is starting to like finger foods.  His favorites right now are cheerios, sweet potato flavored puffs, and rolls.
- is getting a ton of teeth on his top.  Remember those two teeth I talked about being swollen at his 8 month post?  Yeah, they are just breaking through this weekend.  Poor guy has had a rough month and a half with his 4 top teeth going in and out.  One of the side teeth finally broke through last week, and the two middle teeth are almost out.  The other side one is hopefully following soon!
- is learning how to wave!
- is now taking baths in the "big boy bath tub"

Here are some fun pictures from the last month.

What does Jackson do when you give him two pacifiers?

Rolling under the chair while watching Mickey Mouse!
In case you can't tell, Jackson loves his binky!

Jackson decided his play mat was more fun when he pulls it over him ;)

Jackson's first big boy bath!  He loves bath night!
Watching Micky Mouse with daddy - even the kids at daycare know how much he loves Mickey!
Jackson's new toy from Grandma Brown!
He started just chewing on the balls, but now is really good at putting the balls on the ramps
and watching them go down.  He also loves the lights and music!
Playing with the "baby in the mirror" while mommy dries her hair!

Halloween ... a little late

Things have been pretty crazy around here, hence the late blog post.  But I thought I should share some pictures of how cute Jackson looked in his Halloween costume :)

Our friends, the Johnsons, had a Halloween party the Saturday before, so we hurriedly finished our Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto costumes and showed them off!  Unfortunately, Jackson was sick that weekend (cold & ear infection) and he was sleeping until right before we left, so we tried to get some pictures of our costumes at their house and weren't able to get a really good one of Jackson.  Oh well, you'll just have to believe that he was really cute!

On the actual day of Halloween Jackson had a Halloween party at daycare so we put him in a monkey costume that someone gave to us.  The lady that watches him, Cindy, was so sweet to have a little party for all of the kids, and Jackson looked super cute!  That night we stayed home and passed out candy to trick-or-treaters.  We got Jackson dressed up in his monkey costume again to show off to the neighbors.  This was our first Halloween in a neighborhood (and one that has a TON of kids) so we passed out a lot of candy - over 100 pieces in about an hour!  Then we took Jackson around to see some of the older couples in our neighborhood so they could see his costume.  All in all, we had a fun day!

Here are some pictures of our little monkey!
Jackson wasn't a big fan of the ears at first
But then he got used to them!
Waiting for trick-or-treaters!
Look at that cute tail!!

Happy Halloween!
