Our little boy is 18 months!

Where did the time go??  Jackson turned 18 months on Wednesday!  He is such a fun little boy, and we are ever impressed at how much he learns each day.  We had Jackson's 18 month checkup today and for the first time in his life he is on the other end of the weight spectrum.  He also keeps getting taller and taller!  No wonder people keep making comments to us about how he must be a "healthy eater" :)

Here are his stats:
Weight - 25.5 lbs, 69th percentile
Height - 34.5 inches, 96th percentile

At 18 months, Jackson ...
* sleeps about 11 hours each night, and takes a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon
 * is the SWEETEST little boy ever.  He loves to give "loves" and blow kisses to us, his stuffed animals, random people that come to our house, and especially babies.  He is going to be a great big brother some day.
* is definitely a boy, through and through.  He loves cars and trucks and balls and to throw everything.
Giving blue bear a ride in his truck
* is quite the little ham.  He is always coming up with some new face or gesture that cracks us up.  He also has the best laugh.  Here's a little video of Jackson doing his "gangsta" moves.

* has some crazy hair!  Check out his hair in the video above.  We have given him 3 haircuts so far, and the poor guy is deathly afraid of the clippers.  Haircuts are not fun in our house, but unfortunately if we let his hair grow too long it gets pretty crazy!
This is how much hair we cut off two days after that video
He still hadn't recovered halfway through his post-haircut bath :(
* has turned into quite the little monkey.  Last Friday morning I went in to get Jackson from his room to find that he had climbed out of his crib and was waiting by the door with his little Mickey and blue bear in hand and a big smile on his face.  Silly boy!
This resulted in him clearing everything within reach off the dresser,
trying to climb on top, and almost falling in the space in between
the changing table and dresser.
* loves the water!  He plays in water anywhere he can find it.  He even figured out that there was water in the toilet while staying in one of our hotels this summer and decided to play in it.  Don't worry, we washed his hands really well after we took the picture!

* has been learning different animal sounds.  He can make an elephant, monkey, sheep, dinosaur, cat, and sometimes a dog.

* is learning all kinds of words.  Shawn and I made a list this morning and he has about 20 words that he says well and uses regularly, and he seems to be learning more and more every day.  He is getting great at repeating words we say to him.

Jackson is such a fun little boy.  He makes us laugh every day, and has a smile that can melt the heart of even the grumpiest stranger.  We are so lucky to have him!  Happy 18 months little man!
Jackson loves playing the piano

He looked like a pretty cool dude in daddy's head lamp :)
Seriously ... best smile ever!!

    16 Months!

Our Mr. Jackson turned 16 months on Friday!  He just gets more and more fun every day!  He has also become quite the little handful as he is now climbing up onto everything and cruising around furniture.  At 16 months, Jackson ...

    - says "mama" (all the time :) ), "dada", "bup" (book and up), "baba" (bottle), "ba" (ball), "bu" (blue, for his towel), "bat-bat" (buckle, for his car seat), "buh-buh" (bye, bye), "pu" (yes, that one is poo), "haha", "uh-oh", closes his book and says "the end" (which is more of a sound that means "the end"), and tries to repeat lots of other words that usually come out sounding like "bup" or "dat".  He is getting great at watching our faces as we say words so he can repeat them.

    - blows kisses to daddy in the morning when he leaves for work, and whenever we leave somewhere or finish Skyping with grandma and grandpa.  He has also recently started giving kisses on our cheek, which is really more like him eating our face, but we'll take it!

    - loves to make silly faces and noises.  He especially loves when daddy makes an elephant noise and has started trying to copy him.  He is quite the little ham!
Jackson and mommy on Mother's day.
We couldn't get him to look and smile, he just wanted to be silly :)

    - loves to open and close doors, cabinets, cupboards, containers, and basically anything he can.  He also loves to put things in containers, put the lid on and take it back off again.

    - absolutely loves to read books.  I'm pretty sure they are his favorite thing to play with.  He just loves turning the pages!

    - has started building towers with his mega blocks.  He has a great time stacking things!
Jackson's first ever tower with mega blocks!  He built it all himself :)
    - has kind of an unhealthy obsession with Mickey Mouse.  He gets so excited anytime he sees anything that has Mickey on it.
He got so excited when he saw that the chicken nugget bag had Mickey on it that I couldn't put the bag away
    - loves to climb on anything he can.  His favorite places to climb are up to the tub, the piano, and on the couch to play with the blinds.
Pretty pleased with himself for just clearing off the table
    Caught red-handed
Is now tall enough to climb up his ball machine and put the balls in the top slot!
Jackson figured out how to get his paci from his crib without mommy and daddy's help :)
    - loves to be outside!  Now that the weather is nice we have been looking for opportunities to enjoy it.  Last weekend we did an easy hike near our house to a little waterfall.  Jackson was fascinated every time we crossed the river!
    Yay for being outside!
Jackson wouldn't wear his hat so daddy tried it on.
    Jackson loved watching the water

Jackson wasn't a huge fan of the loud noise coming from the waterfall

    Six years!

Today Court and I are celebrating our sixth anniversary! It is amazing how time flies. Court teases me because I forgot I was turning 30 this year. I definitely do not feel that old. Good news. I now have a new way to never forget our anniversary (I haven't yet). Court found out that today is also Star Wars Day! May the fourth be with you!!! Pretty funny!

This morning I made breakfast burritos.  I decided to mow the lawn and turn the irrigation water on to the house and check the sprinklers. I noticed one of our water spigots burst this winter and I had to run to the hardware store to get some parts. I was able to get everything fixed and hopefully tomorrow I can get the sprinklers on and going.

Court came up with an idea to do a picnic lunch at a nearby park that is by a lake. It was a wonderful way to get out and enjoy the weather. Jackson had a blast and we did too!

I know, I know, what an amazing way to spend our anniversary. That isn't everything. Tonight we'll go out to dinner and then a movie. Court picked out Iron Man 3! Who am I to stop her from seeing what she wants to see for our anniversary. I consider myself lucky. Trisha is wonderful and is going to watch Jackson for us so we can get out.  I'm excited!

Court is an amazing women, scholar,  friend, wife and mother. I fall in love with her with each day and year that passes. I'm grateful for her example, her love and her patience as we continue to learn and grow together. I love you! Happy Anniversary!

Here are some more fun photos and videos! Enjoy!
